Fundraiser For Local Charity
Since 1926, the J W Hunt Cup has
raised money towards the running costs of local charity,
Beacon Centre for the Blind.
Organised by local people, with
local teams taking part, the J W Hunt Cup has become an
institution and very much a part of the sporting calendar
within the Wolverhampton area.

The total sum raised for the Centre
since the J W Hunt Cup’s formation in 1926 is £214,000
to season 05/06. Ian Ferguson said: “The Beacon
Centre is extremely grateful to the organisers and everyone
who participates in the J W Hunt Cup, for the support
of our work with visually impaired people from the local
area. We very much hope the Cup will continue to raise
funds for the Centre for another 79 years.”
As a registered
charity, the Beacon Centre for the Blind relies on fundraising
and donations to meet its annual running costs of £2.4
million. Last year the Centre gave help, support and advice
to 3,000 blind and visually impaired people from with
the Black Country.
